Social Studies This week, we will only be doing the "IT" board for Social Studies. This week the question is: WHAT is it?
Monday's clue: Why on all other nights do we eat either leavened bread or matzah, but on this night only matzah? Tuesday's clue: Why on all other nights do we eat all vegetables, but on this night, maror? Wednesday's clue: Why on all other nights do we dip only once, but on this night, we dip twice? Thursday's clue: On all other nights, we eat sitting upright. Why, on this night, do we all recline? FYI - Isabelle Rizzo guessed the correct answer earlier this week; however, you can still try! |
Religion I really want to spend time, this week, focusing on the lessons we can learn from Jesus' last week on earth. So, let's get to it!
Beginning on Ash Wednesday and continuing throughout the season of Lent, we have been preparing for our celebration of Easter. Now, we have come to the final stages of our preparation. Holy Week began, yesterday, on the last Sunday of Lent, which is called Passion or Palm Sunday. Two special things happen at Mass on Palm Sunday: we bless and process with palms, and we proclaim the Gospel about Jesus' passion and Death. On Passion, or Palm Sunday, there are TWO Gospel readings. The first Gospel reading is proclaimed at the doors of the church, before the procession with the palm branches. This reading tells how Jesus entered Jerusalem amid shouts of welcome and praise. Read Matthew 21:1-11. Shortly after Jesus was welcomed to Jerusalem, he was crucified. That is why Palm Sunday is also called Passion Sunday. The second Gospel we hear on this day is about Jesus' passion and Death. The passion is also proclaimed on Good Friday. Read Matthew 26:14 through 27:66. In your Religion book, read p. 235-236, and complete the acrostic. I will be sending out some Google Docs with assignments which I would like for you to work on this week. You should receive these on Monday or Tuesday. Miscellaneous During Holy Week, please take time to pray for all those who have been impacted by the coronavirus. Prayer is a very POWERFUL thing!
